Not the New Black

Brown. The colour of many things I love, like wood, chocolate, coffee, and deliciously dark lads (my favourite type). But when it comes to fashion, I just can not relate to it. Brown always seems to me as the most boring, least sexy colour to wear; the mere thought of brown dresses, for instance, makes me a tiny bit sick. I've always been a black lover anyway.

But this winter, you just can't escape the big brown. Covering the catwalks of my favourite designers and the racks of my shops, even I - the ultimate brown antagonist - started to realise that there might be something to it.

And indeed, there are actually brown shades that I like. The cool, desaturated taupes and khakis, or the rich, golden shades - like cognac and camel (and if you've done your homework, you should know that camel is the right shade of the season). And even more, don't tell anyone - some of these browns do go together with black!

And sometimes, the mood just calls for it.
